Eastern Pennsylvania Gymnastic League Championship Meet May 11, 2002

On May 11, 2002, the new Lehigh Valley Sports Academy will be hosting the first annual Eastern Pennsylvania Gymnastics League Championship Meet. The league consists of six teams:

Lehigh Valley, Pocono, Somerton, Aerials, Airborne, and American. The league expects 160 girls to compete in levels three through 10 following strict USAG guidelines.

Lehigh Valley Sports Academy opened the doors of a premiere 50,000 square-foot gymnastics facility at 1665 E. Race St, Catasauqua on February 18, 2002. The gym is home to coaches Natalia Yurchenko and Ivan Guertchev. Natalia Yurchenko is the 1983 Women's All-Around World Champion. She is the inventor of the Yurchenko vault (round off entry), as well as the Yurchenko loop on beam (a back dive across the width of the beam to a hip circle).

The Lehigh Valley girls team consists of 60 members including past seasons' Level 5 state champions. The current Level 5 girls team was awarded second place team of twenty-four competitors at the Friendship Classic Invitational in March. At the Level 10 state competition, Jade Bundra qualified to compete at the Regional Meet to be held April 13-14 at Parkettes.

Spectators are welcomed at the upcoming League Championships to view the

talented gymnasts competing at the Lehigh Valley Sports Academy.
